March 2008
March Madness means College Basketball to some. To others,
it describes a Membership Month. As most of you know, our
Chapter # 1 membership has been growing each month as
professionals and area companies discover the many benefits
of APICS membership to the New Bedford Chapter. Our monthly
professional development meetings have been well attended;
our CPIM review modules and Lean Workshops have been well
attended and net working and job bank resources have
assisted professionals to secure new positions. The New
Bedford Chapter is rich in APICS history (Chapter #1) and
the chapter future is extremely rich in value for members –
Welcome – Joseph Crisefulli, Polaroid; Lynne Carrazza,

Leveraging Strategic Sourcing
Richard G. Weissman, C.P.M.
A comprehensive supply management methodology is a critical
element of operational success, as well as a key factor of
satisfying customers. Supply management professionals have
the task of managing the selection and performance of a
global supplier community to ensure that the acquisition of
goods and services meet their organization’s quality,
delivery, and value criteria. While developing a
comprehensive operating plan to meet the business needs of
the organization is essential, it is also critical to manage
and track internal and external performance against these
plans. This session will focus on the strategic and tactical
business issues facing the organization, and offer proven
solutions that can be used to maximize supplier
contributions..
